12. My Way Home
[E. Maguire]
I’m lost again, I thought I’d been so close to home
But now I’m far away from everything
My eyes are tired, my hands are holding emptiness
And hope has left me for the coast
She won’t be there when I need her most to stay
And darkness wraps its loving arms around me
Takes me down the charnel ground again
I want to live, I’ve much to give, I try to say
But silence is the only sound
There’s no-one here to save me now
I pray to the gods of everything
Leave a light on for me
So in the night I can see my way home
Won’t you wait up for me
It won’t be long til I see my way home
Life is like a lesson I have never learned
When to stop and when to take good care
I paint a smile and hope that I’ll be wise someday
But I don’t know anything
I don’t even know what I’m thinking
Don’t give up, just fill your cup with mindfulness
Take another breath before you start
The voice inside my heart is quiet and kinder now
But all the voices in my head
Shouting that I should be dead
I pray to the gods of everything
Leave a light on for me
So in the night I can see my way home
Won’t you wait up for me
It won’t be long til I see my way home
